A tough and hardy old variety of evergreen azalea to around 75cm in height, with dark green glossy foliage and very large, trumpet-shaped rose-pink flowers, with darker pink speckled throats, appearing in June/July

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil, in full shade. Choose a site away from frost pockets and sheltered from strong winds. mulch annually, ideally with leaf mould. See rhododendron cultivation for more detailed advice

Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer, or by grafting in winter
