A spreading, deciduous thorny shrub to 1.2m in height, with mid-green, rounded, glossy leaves. Clusters of single, scarlet-orange, cup-shaped flowers are produced in spring on bare branches, followed by yellow fruits. These can be used to make jams and jellies but please see notes on toxicity for further advice
