A rounded, deciduous shrub, about 1.5m tall, with spiny stems and glossy mid-green leaves. Large, single, bright red flowers in mid-spring are followed by green fruits ripening to yellow. These can be used to make jams and jellies but please see notes on toxicity for further advice
