In more detail

  • By painting the sides but not the top of the raised beds, the designers have ensured they don’t overwhelm the garden
  • The planting is a colourful mix of herbs, bedding plants and perennials, including many fragrant plants to delight the senses

About the garden

This accessible garden champions the reality that not all disabilities are visible. Designed to allow everybody to be able to garden, it contains mobile raised beds, and a circular raised space which enables wheelchair users to participate in gardening.

A large border runs along the back of the plot, which is at ground level. The easy access theme has been continued by ensuring that all levels between the festival grounds and the garden are even.
