Children’s activities at RHS Sandringham

Enjoy a brilliant family day out at RHS Sandringham Flower Show, where there’s plenty to keep younger visitors entertained

With tickets for under 16s free, RHS Sandringham Flower Show is a great day out for families. As well as enjoying a day in the open air, seeing the gardens and growers at the beautiful historic Norfolk venue, there’s also plenty of activities to keep younger gardeners busy. From hands-on play and creative crafts to wildlife-themed trails and growing competitions, children can get stuck into fun, nature-inspired activities while exploring the show.

Smoby Children’s Village

Featuring a mud kitchen and nature playhouse by Smoby this is the perfect place for little ones to play house, and of course, garden!

Face painter and craft bar

Creative kids can visit the craft bar to choose an arty project on a horticultural theme, then visit Faces by Sandra for a fabulous floral face decoration.

A Smoby playhouse will keep them entertained at the show

Leaf Letters

Learn about some of the different trees around the show ground and pick your favourite leaf shape to write a letter to the King and Queen, then post it in our special red boxes. With one study suggesting that 82% of children aren’t able to recognise an oak leaf, how many will you be able to identify by the end of your day at RHS Sandringham?

Froggy nature trail with Pensthorpe

The RHS Pollywiggle Garden champions tadpoles, frogs, toads and newts in our gardens. Local nature reserve Pensthorpe – where the garden will be relocated – have joined in, creating a fun kids trail to do around the show, finishing at the RHS Feature Garden where you can learn more about spotting wildlife in the garden.

Can you identify all the different leaves?

Upcycled Containers

One of the most popular features at the show is the fun and quirky mini gardens created by local community school groups. See what they have created with this year’s RHS theme of ‘Biodiversity’.

Show off your growing skills

The Summer Fruit and Vegetable Competition has invited junior growers to take part in the Daily Show Table. Young gardeners coming to the show can bring a fruit or vegetable they have grown at home, or create a garden on a plate and have the entry judged for a special RHS medal. See each day’s entries in the tent and pick your winner for Best in Show.
