Home is where the Heart is

Community Kids

This mini garden is conceived as a shelter. It’s a place where children and wildlife can find refuge and feel at home, built around a salvaged wooden container that once held a kitchen unit, now repurposed as a perfect base for a den.

Beach Flotsam

Heacham in Bloom

The design is prompted by the ever-changing beaches at Heacham and the people who live and work there or visit them. During rough tides and high winds, the sea deposits all manner of flotsam along the shoreline, leaving treasures to be discovered.

The Queen Bee

Ingoldisthorpe Church of England Primary School

At Ingoldisthorpe, bees are at the centre of the school ethos. Their planter is built around a majestic queen bee symbolising leadership, care and community. She is surrounded by her fellow bees, each crafted from woven willow and recycled food cans.

Langdale CE Primary School

Climate change and adaptability are the focus of Langdale CE Primary School’s creation, which draws inspiration from containers used to store rainwater in the school garden and from plants that thrive in increasing wet conditions.

Park’s Porker

Park Community School

A container previously used to feed the school’s pigs has been repurposed as the base for this exhibit. Strips of material from old boiler suits and discarded drinks bottles have also been upcycled, forming a self-watering system and plant pots respectively.

We are Weeting

Weeting Primary School

The steam engine and accompanying planting represent Weeting’s steam rally, while the woodland area reflects the surrounding Thetford Forest. Fruit and vegetables symbolise the local farming community.

Wheelbarrow boat in a flowerbed

Sprowston Community Hub & The Nancy Oldfield Trust

Evoking the meaningful work of the Nancy Oldfield Trust, which provides accessible boating on the Norfolk Broads, Sprowston Community Hub’s design features a sailing boat with an old wheelbarrow used as its hull.

Beauty in the mundane, treasure from trash / Bin there, done that!

Wilderness Foundation UK Down 2 Earth Community Allotment Group

From a rubbish bin, this allotment group has created multiple different feeding grounds and wildlife habitats, from a graduated pool to a beetle hotel. The planting spiral represents the therapeutic journey from pain to healing.

The Pollinator Patch

Whissonsett & District Horticultural Society & Gardening Club

An old beehive composter is planted with a mixture of bee-friendly plants. Five baskets made from homegrown willow are filled with annuals, perennials, edibles, herbs and a shrub much loved by our buzzy friends.
