Celebrating soil at RHS Sandringham

Take a deep dive into the life beneath your feet at RHS Sandringham Flower Show 2026

Soilfest is a fun activity-packed place to discover everything you need to know about the soil your garden grows in, how it was made, the different types, the life inside it and how to make it stronger and heathier for your plants.

Composting 101

With experts on hand to answer your questions and host a packed daily demonstrations timetable, visitors can learn, not only about the many different types of composing, but also how they can adapt the different methods to fit in with their lifestyles and their gardens. The Norfolk Master Composters, a dedicated team of volunteers dedicated to reducing and reusing waste in Norfolk, will be giving talks on everything you need to know, from wormeries and bokashi to hot composting. They’ll even be collecting food and coffee waste from the showground to include in their daily demonstrations.

Hear life underground

Cranfield University will be bringing their talking benches, playing Eco acoustic recordings of the life below ground while you sit back and relax. Learn about the different types of soil with the interactive ‘soil bar’ and take part in groundbreaking academic research along with the British Society of Soil Science.

See the micro world

A single teaspoon of healthy soil contains more living microorganisms than there are people on Earth and through Wild Soil’s microscopes visitors will be able to see what that looks like up-close and projected onto a big screen. Explore the Soil Food Web and learn about the microorganisms powering our gardens. Visitors can even bring soil samples from home to be analysed at the show.
