A vigorous small tree reaching up to 7m, with large, glossy, pointed, dark green leaves producing red and purple tints in autumn. In early summer, tight clusters of small, greenish flowers are surrounded by large, broad, pointed white bracts with a hint of green, followed by edible, deep pink, strawberry-like fruit
