Genus Cercis are deciduous shrubs or small trees with heart-shaped leaves and clusters of bright pink pea-flowers opening before or with the leaves, followed by flattened, deep purple pods
Details 'Avondale' produces abundant, densely-clustered dark purple-pink flowers in late spring before the leaves appear; leaves are relatively large, heart-shaped and tinted red-purple when they unfurl
