Herbs are really fantastic plants. They help to add flavour to your cooking and smell great! Have a go at making your very own mini indoor herb garden.

Different herbs you can try:

  • Thyme
  •  Mint
  •  Sage
  •  Basil
  •  Chives

Growing Tips

You'll need:

  • Four or five different herbs from your local plant centre
  • Large plant pot
  • Crocks (broken pieces of pot) or large stones
  • Compost
  • Gardening gloves
  • Horticultural grit
  • A trowel

Growing tips

  1. Place the crocks in the bottom of the plant pot.
  2. Fill the pot about two-thirds full of compost.
  3. Take the herbs out of their pots and arrange them in the big plant pot.
  4. Carefully plant the herbs in their places, fill in the gaps with compost, and firm in.
  5. Water them, cover the surface with grit, and put the pot in a sunny spot on a windowsill.

Handy hint:

Make an especially colourful pot, buy a plain, terracotta pot and paint it with colourful acrylic paint to decorate it.
