Latest: The RHS Libraries at Vincent Square, RHS Garden Wisley and RHS Garden Harlow Carr are closed from 18th March, in line with Government advice and the ongoing situation with Covid-19.
Wisley Garden Library
Our Garden Library lends to RHS members and is open to all garden visitors for reference. We provide comfortable facilities for browsing books, relaxing with the latest gardening magazines and for undertaking research. We can also help visitors use the collection to find answers to their enquiries.
The Library Team is getting our collections ready for the move to the National Centre for Horticultural Science and Learning. The purpose-built library will house books, journals, archives and artworks. From rare historic treasures to cutting edge scientific research, children’s books to the latest gardening magazines, we are working hard to provide something of interest for every gardener.
As the proposed opening in spring 2021 draws closer, we will keep you posted on the latest developments.
The Gardiners' House is one of the oldest buildings at Wisley and is accessed via steps. If you feel our entrance could present you with access difficulties and would like to make use of the library’s collections, please call the library team in advance of you visit or make entrance staff aware on your arrival at the garden. A member of our team will meet you to discuss your requirements and arrange access to the collections for you.
In Autumn 2020 the library will move to a purpose-built, accessible space in the new National Centre for Horticultural Science and Learning.
Please contact the library team for further information on 01483 212428 or email us.
Wisley Research Library
Our Research Library specialises in horticultural taxonomy and science. Available to RHS staff, students and visitors by appointment. Here we keep unique collections of horticultural science, research as well as the Wisley Garden archives.
You are welcome to use our Research Library during the week but please make an appointment to be assured of availability.
