Annual Summer Closure

The Lindley Library will be closed for two weeks over the summer for stocktaking. We will close at 5pm on Friday 17 August and reopen at 10am on Monday 3 September 2018.

Over these two weeks we will still be receiving and answering enquires via email, and there will be a voicemail service running on our main telephone number (0207 821 3050).

Enquires sent on 30th and 31st August will be received on Monday 3rd September.

Upper Reading Room with exhibition on displayThe library holds unique collections of early printed books on gardening, botanical art and photographs. It also holds the archives of the RHS and personal archives of notable gardeners and garden designers.

Open on two floors

The Upper Reading Room has been refurbished to create an open access lending library and a brand new exhibition area.

The Research Room has also been refurbished to provide better accommodation for our heritage collections. See our Appointments calendar (346kB pdf) if you would like to work in the Research Room.

Disabled Access

The Upper Reading Room has restricted disabled access - temporarily - due to a technical problem with the lift and can only be accessed via three steps. The Research Room still has step free access.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as we can.
