An upright coniferous tree, to 30m tall, of narrowly-pyramidal habit. Young shoots are a glossy green; deep blue-green needle-like leaves in groups of five, each up to 10cm long, are densely-borne on shoots. Cylindrical green cones with white resin, each up to 15cm long, are borne on short stalks and ripen in autumn to brown
