An evergreen short-trunked tree or large shrub with very attractive bark. Long green leaves and greeny-cream bell-shaped flowers develop into orange-yellow berries. Whilst the fruits are edible and used to make jams and liqueurs in some countries, they are generally grown for ornamental purposes only in the UK
