An evergreen shrub of rather lax habit, growing to around 1.5m tall and wide, with dark green leaves to 15cm long, glaucous and scaly on the undersides. Fragrant, funnel-shaped flowers, to 10cm wide, open in clusters of 4-8 in mid and late spring, creamy-white, often edged and tinged with pink and blotched orange or yellow at the base
