Rhododendron caeruleum
An evergreen shrub, usually to about 2m high in cultivation, though occasionally much taller in its native habitat. Leaves are elliptic, brownish when young, maturing to dark green with sparse yellow-brown scales on the undersides. Flowers are widely funnel-shaped, almost flat, and produced in loose clusters at the tips of the stems in mid to late spring, in shades of white, rose pink or lilac and sometimes with red flecks on the upper petals
