A small deciduous tree, with slightly glossy, dark green leaves divided into leaflets at the base, with a larger, lobed leaflet at the tip. Clusters of white flowers are produced in spring, followed by clusters of rounded red berries in autumn. A rare species, with a small wild population found only in Scotland
