Compact, upright spreading small tree, grown on own roots to retain habit. Leaves, deciduous, ovate, wavy margined, dark-green with slight pinkish bronze flush to margins and veins in spring, colouring orange-red in autumn. Small green flower heads surrounded by four slender, pointed, pink bracts, which may range from deep red to almost white are borne in summer. Strawberry-like red fruit develop in autumn.
