A deciduous tree up to 8m tall with and upright, oval crown. Leaves emerge purplish bronze-red in spring before turning bronze to purple-green. Flowers up to 4cm across are a rose-red colour, darker in bud and followed by small orange-red or yellow fruits up to 2cm long
