A small-sized, evergreen, tropical epiphytic orchid, growing on upright, stem-like rhizomes, up to 12cm tall. New growth on each stem emerges from a cenral tip of the rizome, covered in alternate, leaf-bearing sheaths. Green or dark green, leathery leaves are up to 12cm long, folded lengthwise. As the new leaves appear from the top, older, lower leaves gradually fall off. New roots emerge from the rhizome, following the ascending growing trend. Flowering stems up to 8cm long emerge from axils of the leaves and carry up to 10 white, night-scented flowers. Each flower measures approximately 3cm in diameter, and has distinctive, long, curved spur.
