Green Living Spaces

Did you know...

  • This garden uses ordinary, everyday materials to great effect - copper pipes are used as structural features and a canopy, made of deckchair fabric, matches the cushions below
  • Even though the materials aren't pricey, combining them carefully and repeating certain elements gives this garden a cohesive feel that looks more expensive than it is

About the Garden

Designed to reflect the needs of Henry and Daisy, a young design-savvy couple living in a contemporary urban flat with a spacious balcony, this garden is a cool, creative, affordable outdoor space for entertaining friends.

The balcony was designed so that it could be constructed in stages as funds allowed. This also means it can easily be taken apart for re-use or upcycling should the couple move home.

Daisy is keen to start growing some of her own food, but has no experience of gardening. Inspired by a visit to Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, the Oxfordshire couple want a space where they can sit and entertain friends and cook food, surrounded by an interesting range of easily grown edible and attractive display plants.
