Villaggio Verde: The Garden of Romance

Show Gardens

The  Garden of Romance represents part of an old rustic Italian cloister garden, which was once an important outdoor space for those confined to their quarters in days gone by. Nowadays, the garden plays host to weddings and blessing ceremonies. Over time the planting has been allowed to ‘spread’ and mature.

Cupressus var. sempervirens, Quercus suber and Arbutus unedo grow among evergreen shrubs and aromatics. The old Olea europaea marks the centre point of the garden, which is surrounded by a parterre containing fragrant planting and edged with Rosmarinus officinalis.
