Star speakers and gardening gurus revealed for RHS Malvern 2024

Talks at RHS Malvern Spring
Taking centre stage at the Festival this year will be one of the UK’s best-loved gardeners, writers and television presenters, Alan Titchmarsh MBE. BBC Gardeners’ World regulars Adam Frost, Frances Tophill and Toby Buckland will be there, and RHS Vice President, Design Ambassador and Gardeners’ World magazine columnist, James Alexander-Sinclair returns to take on hosting duties.

Appearing at RHS Malvern Spring for the first time are garden influencers,  Cloud Gardener (Jason Williams) and Beardy Gardener (Leigh Johnstone), fresh from their successful show designs at RHS Tatton Park and RHS Hampton Court respectively.
 

Stages at the Festival

A brand-new Kitchen Garden Theatre, created by award-winning designers, Stonebarn Landscapes, offers visitors the chance to relax in an immersive kitchen garden, while watching live cooking demonstrations from a range of chefs and local food producers. The Tips & Tricks and Potting Shed Theatres are also back for 2024, dishing out expert advice and demonstrations.

The Festival of Houseplants, a brand-new feature at this year’s RHS Malvern Spring Festival, hosts indoor plant specialists, sharing their advice and top tips on everything from how to choose the perfect houseplant for your space, to troubleshooting advice for tricky specimens.

Garden designer, writer and broadcaster, Adam is a regular presenter of Gardeners’ World.

Adam Kirtland (Sunday / Tips & Tricks)
Adam Kirtland is a writer, podcaster, and gardener with an unbridled obsession with all things DIY, and how to create unique garden projects with a few simple materials.

Alan TitchmarshAlan Titchmarsh (Friday / Festival)
Alan is a gardener, writer, broadcaster, poet and best-selling novelist.  He presented British Isles, a Natural History, Ground Force, Gardeners’ World, The Chelsea Flower Show and The Proms on BBC television and The Alan Titchmarsh Show on ITV. He can currently be seen in Love Your Garden and Love Your Weekend on ITV, and heard on the Saturday morning breakfast show on Classic FM.

Cara Thompson (Sunday / Tips & Tricks)
Founder of ‘Make it Flourish’, TV Art Director turned Flower Grower, Cara shares her joy for growing flowers & planting design.

Carolyn Dunster (Thursday / Kitchen Garden)
Carolyn is the author of Urban Flowers, Cut & Dry and A Floral Feast. She also works as a planting designer and botanical stylist.

Chris Collins (Thursday & Friday / Potting Shed, Tips & Tricks & Festival)
Currently Head of Horticulture at Garden Organic. His career includes: Brighton Parks Apprentice; Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh diploma; Limbe Botanic Garden, Cameroon; Blue Peter Gardener; Head Gardener at Westminster Abbey; TV presenter and author.

Ellen Mary (Saturday & Sunday / Tips & Tricks and Festival)
Author, broadcaster and nature therapist, Ellen Mary talks about the wellbeing benefits of plants, gardening and the natural world. 
Ellen will be talking about: Indoor and Outdoor Edible Plants & Endless possibilities; Things you can do with plants.

James Alexander Sinclair and Frances Tophil
Frances Tophill (Every Day / Kitchen Garden & Festival)
Best known on screen for her involvement in BBC Gardeners’ World and ITV’s Love Your Garden, Frances is the author of 6 books and writes for gardening magazines.
Frances will be hosting the Festival Theatre Stage on Saturday & Sunday

Garden designer, RHS judge, writer and broadcaster.
James will be hosting the Festival Theatre Stage on Thursday & Friday

James Greig (Thursday / Tips & Tricks)
Founder of Stem & Green Natural Flower Farm, and champion of affordable and sustainable English cut flowers.

Jason WilliamsJason Williams, AKA Cloud Gardener (Friday / Tips & Tricks)
After creating show gardens at RHS Chelsea & RHS Tatton, Jason now teaches others how to create their own small space sanctuaries.

Jekka McVicar (Thursday / Kitchen Garden)
Jekka has been awarded the Victoria Medal of Honour in Horticulture, 62 RHS Gold Medals, is an RHS Vice President, and has written 9 books, including her new book, 100 Herbs to Grow.
Jekka will be giving a Herb Growing Masterclass​.

Joe Woodhouse (Friday / Festival)
Vegetarian chef, food photographer and author of Your Daily Veg.

Jon Wheatley (Every Day / Festival)
Winner of 14 RHS Chelsea Gold medals and manager of Stonebarn Landscapes, designers of the Kitchen Theatre at RHS Malvern. 

Jonathan Moseley (Every Day / Across Stages)
Jonathan is one of the UK’s most celebrated florists with over 30 years’ experience of growing and arranging beautiful flowers. He is a popular writer, broadcaster and demonstrator, and a great champion of seasonal British flowers and UK floristry.
Jonathan will be taking about: Getting the best out of home grown arrangements

Leigh JohnstoneLeigh Johnstone, aka The Beardy Gardener (Every Day / Tips & Tricks)
Leigh Johnstone is a writer, mental health campaigner, broadcaster and award-winning garden designer.

Liz Knight (Sunday / Kitchen Garden)

Marcus Bean is a regular chef on ITV’s This Morning, and has become a popular host at the BBC Good Food shows around the country.

Mark Diacono (Every Day / Kitchen Garden)
Mark is an award-winning writer, whose latest book Vegetables, focuses on seasonal produce.

Niall McCauley (Saturday / Tips & Tricks)
Niall is an Irish gardening content creator, TV, radio, and magazine contributor, and winner of the Garden Media Guild’s, Alan Titchmarsh New Talent of the Year 2022.

Si King from The Hairy Bikers (Saturday / Kitchen Garden & Festival)
As one half of The Hairy Bikers, Si has presented cookery programmes and written several books.

Toby BucklandToby Buckland (Thursday, Festival)
Toby Buckland is a landscape designer, gardener and broadcaster, known for his hands-on and practical approach to gardening. He’s a BBC Radio host and a regular face on Gardeners’ World.
