Alan Titchmarsh talks to former RHS President Sir Nicholas Bacon about the importance of the launch of The Queen’s Green Canopy.

Alan Titchmarsh speaks to Sir Nicholas Bacon, former RHS President, about the importance of The Queen’s Green Canopy, an initiative that encourages people to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’. The project will see every county in the UK being invited to create a network of trees, tree-lined avenues, copses and woodlands in honour of Her Majesty’s 70 years of service to the nation. As well as inviting people to plant new trees, existing woodland will also be dedicated to the QGC by erecting commemorative plaques to mark the occasion and preserve forests for the future, in The Queen’s name.

The Queen’s Green Canopy is an independent initiative led by an Executive Team drawn from individuals seconded from across Government and the charity, Cool Earth. The Chief Executive is Colonel Dan Rex MVO. The Chairman of the QGC Board is Sir Nicholas Bacon. The team is supported by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and a comprehensive Advisory Board.

You can see more about our involvement with the Queen’s Green Canopy at RHS Chelsea, details of which we will announce soon.
