Tall, clump-forming perennial, about 1.2m in height, with mid-green, 3- lobed leaves. Single purple-pink flowers become paler with age, the overlapping 3 or 4 outer petals slightly darker than the 5 or 6 inner ones, are held above branching stems, from summer to autumn
