This course will introduce participants to the captivating world of butterflies, helping them understand their lifecycles, desired food plants and habitats.   

Participants will be equipped with the tools and skills to identify common UK butterfly species and develop an understanding of their behaviour and ecology.  

You will learn how we garden at RHS Wisley to create butterfly‑friendly habitats, gain tips on how to encourage butterflies to your garden and gain suggestions on how to be involved in citizen‑science projects.  

This workshop includes a guided walk in the garden so please come dressed for the weather. 


Tutor: RHS Wisley Butterfly Survey Team

Location: Hilltop Learning Studios and outside in the Garden

Catering: Tea and coffee on arrival. You are welcome to bring along a packed lunch or visit one of Wisley’s cafes to purchase food/refreshments.
