At RHS Garden Wisley, join us for a Library Talk at RHS Hilltop – The Home of Gardening Science. These short talks by our Librarians and Archivist showcase items from the library collections. Sessions are free and pre-bookable. They take place on a Friday morning in the Foyle Reading Room. Most tours are about 15 minutes long.
Wilson's Wisley
An opportunity to hear the story of the creation of Wisley Garden by its original owner, Victorian inventor and experimentalist George Fergusson Wilson. We will look at some of the archives that give us an insight into what motivated him to carve a garden out of farmland, how he chose the site, the various areas he developed, and how they are different – and similar to - the garden as it is today.
Part 2 of this talk will take place later in the year.
