Join in the fun at RHS Garden Wisley this summer, as we celebrate 50 years since the publication of  Eric Carle’s best-selling story The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Explore the garden with family trails and get creative with fun activities for all –  from art, craft and puppet shows, to storytelling, music workshops and more. Don't miss the Eric Carle art exhibition, too!

Very Hungry Caterpillar trail (suitable for up to 8 year olds)

Spectacular plants trail (suitable for 8–12 year olds)
1 June – 4 October

Walk and talks
20 July – 1 September
The Education and Entomology teams will lead a series of guided walks for families throughout the summer holidays:

  • Incredible Edibles – Find out where food comes from in the Orchard and Vegetable Garden, discover which parts of plants we can eat, and wake up your senses in the Herb Garden.
  • Marvellous Minibeasts – Take a minibeast safari to find the garden's tiniest residents, explore different minibeast habitats and learn how to observe and collect these fascinating creatures.
  • Bees, Butterflies and Blooms – Get up close and personal with the garden's buzzing and fluttering inhabitants, to  discover how they help keep Wisley looking beautiful. See pollination in action and find out about our native bees and butterflies.
