Highlights from Taste of Autumn 2018

Visitors enjoyed the best of the season with a visit to the Taste of Autumn where the orchard was laden with fruit and the garden was awash with colour. There was plenty of tempting food and drink stalls and spectacular autumn displays to see.

There were more than 30 stalls celebrating local harvest as well as artisan food and drink – many offered samples or tastings.

Expert displays and advice

Autumn produce from Wisley
Surrey Bees Society, National Vegetable Society, National Allotment Society and the RHS Seed Team were present with fabulous displays, information and advice for grow your own beginners and more experienced growers.

Talks Theatre

In the Talks Theatre, many of the stallholders spoke about their produce and experience – these included Surrey Bees, Silent Pool gin and many others.

Garden walks

Visitors could join a walk through the garden, which will be dressed in autumn colours. Look out for Wisley’s famous Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Wisley King’ on Seven Acres.

  • Garden advice for the novice to the experienced gardener from Wisley experts
  • The Stagger Inn – a taste from the South West: who served mulled cider, mulled wine, hot toddy/mead and hot cordials. With ciders, ales, mead and cordials for sale
  • Cowley’s Fine Foods: who sold fruit leathers made using traditional methods that date back hundreds of years

Catering during Taste of Autumn

Honest Sausage sausage bapTaste of Wisley provided its usual offerings from the Food Hall, the Glasshouse Café and the Coffee Shop. The Honest Sausage had its tasty bacon and sausage baps on sale as well as a wide range of lunchtime snacks throughout the show.
