A dramatic, upright perennial with lance-shaped soft green foliage and long-lasting, flared, tubular dark purple to dark burgundy flowers with a cream-coloured striped throat appearing from May through to September. May sometimes produce white or greyish-blue flowers which makes it even more interesting. Great for an alpine border or pots and containers

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. In cold areas, protect plant overwinter with a dry winter mulch. See penstemon cultivation for further advice

Propagate by softwood cuttings in early summer or semi-hardwood cuttings in midsummer. Propagate by division in spring

Pruning
