A medium height heritage pea to 150cm. It has green leaves and climbs using tendrils. The flowers are pink and purple and develop into purple pods containing a good crop of peas in summer. These can either be picked immature as 'mangetout, or left to mature and used dry. It is an annual which lives for one summer.

Sow seed quite densely, in full sun in well-drained but moisture-retentive soil. Provide support such as twiggy hazel sticks or netting, them to climb up. Pick pods regularly to ensure a continuous crop. For more advice, see pea cultivation.
