Tulipa (tulip), Single Late, Viridiflora and Darwin Hybrids trial 2026

Objectives and purpose of the trial

This Tulipa (tulip) trial will focus on Darwin Hybrid, Viridiflora and Single Late selections, along with a range of multi headed cultivars. With 92 cultivars under assessment at RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey, it will be the largest tulip trial held in recent years. This new trial follows the success of earlier displays, including the 2024 Lily flowered and Fringed tulip trial and the 2025 trial of Double Late, Parrot and Coronet types. The RHS Trials team aims to review many new cultivars alongside well known favourites, with the strongest performers set to receive the RHS Recommended: Award of Garden Merit.

• Overall appearance: Proportions, sturdiness and foliage
• Flower impact: Colour, size and shape
• Length of flowering period

• Weather and pest resistance
• Uniformity of height and colour
