Virtual RHS Malvern Spring Festival 2020
For the first time ever, a virtual version of RHS Malvern Spring Festival is launching on Thursday 7 May 2020
Every May RHS Malvern Spring Festval is held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, Worcestershire. Set against the backdrop of the magnificent Malvern Hills it is a show unlike any other. Over the course of the festival, the showground is bursting with plants and flowers, artisan food, rural and homespun crafts and plenty of opportunities for all ages to enjoy a fun-filled day out.
This year it’s going to be a different offering. Following government advice in response to Covid-19 the 2020 festival had to be cancelled. However, undeterred in their enthusiasm to bring people together to celebrate the pleasure and joy of gardening – a new opportunity has been created by the Malvern team to bring the festival to you in virtual format, to enjoy from the comfort of your own garden chair.
Show Gardens as you’ve never experienced them before
Virtual Show Gardens are being created for four of the intended gardens using immersive 3D animation. The gardens include Leaf Creative Garden: Wanderlust of Plants by Peter Dowle, The Violette Szabó Garden by Jane Scott Moncrieff, Taverna Cove by Villaggio Verde, and The Hide Garden by Emily Crowley-Wroe.
Multi-award winning designer Villaggio Verde, the creator of Taverna Cove is teaming up with Concepts Conveyed to literally build a virtual garden from scratch. The virtual Show Garden build can be followed on the Malvern Shows Facebook page.
See what’s in store
Virtual visitors to RHS Malvern Spring Festival will be able to hear from the Show Garden designers about the inspiration behind each of their gardens, how they planned their allocated space, chose their materials and how their planting plans have taken shape.
Included too are a selection of videos and question and answer sessions from top UK specialist growers and nurseries who regularly exhibit at Malvern. The nurseries will be showing visitors the huge variety of plants, shrubs and trees that they grow and explaining their passion for their plants, hoping to encourage you to get involved and get gardening.
