The BBC North West Tonight Sunshine Garden - In Memory of Dianne Oxberry

Feature Garden
Created in memory of weather presenter Dianne Oxberry, this garden showcases how even the smallest space can be bright, uplifting and fit for all that the British weather brings.

Comedian Peter Kay once said Dianne ‘brought sunshine into all our lives’ and this is reflected in the garden, which is full of warmth. It features a hot border planting palette that’s low maintenance and perfect for pollinating insects.

The garden works in synch with the weather. An arbour with a green roof provides shelter from sun or rain and slows down rainfall in the process. A potting area shows how easy it is to grow your own flowers from seed and meteorology equipment allows the gardener to keep a check on the weather.

The nectar-rich, prairie-style planting features heleniums in egg yolk yellow to citrus orange, bringing instant sunshine, together with blush roses paired with pink geraniums. Sunflowers provide drama and excitement all through the garden.
