A strong evergreen dark-stemmed twining climber with ovate-oblong or lance- shaped, dark green leaves. These are initally flushed deep bronze, bearing oppositely paired two-lipped tubular, fragrant orange-yellow flowers in the leaf axes in summer, followed by blue-black fruit.
