Bushy old-fashioned rose about 90cm tall, with strong stems bearing prickles and dark green glossy foliage, the new leaves tinted purple-bronze. Free-flowering lightly scented, showy, bright crimson, semi-double blooms with occasional white flecks and prominent yellow stamens, in large clusters, repeat-flower through summer to autumn; introduced in 1842

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Mulch with well-rotted organic matter in late winter or early spring, and for best flowering apply a general rose or shrub fertiliser in early spring and again in early summer. See rose cultivation
