A compact rose, and one of the darkest flowers of all roses. about 60cm tall and wide, with glossy rich green leaves and few thorns. Very fragrant, semi-double to double, velvety-textured, deep crimson blooms appear almost black, opening to reveal contrasting golden stamens, repeat-flowering from summer to autumn; needs a warm sheltered position to do well

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in full sun and moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in a sheltered site. For best flowering apply a balanced fertiliser and mulch in late winter or early spring and a balanced fertiliser again in early summer. Ideal for cut flowers and can be grown in a container. Propagation

Propagate by softwood cuttings in early to mid spring, hardwood cuttings in late summer to autumn or by chip budding in summer
