Introducing...

Evergreen euonymus

A garden staple, evergreen euonymus are grown for their attractive year-round foliage, either glossy green or brightly variegated with yellow or white. Larger growing cultivars make good specimen shrubs and are useful for hedging, while compact forms make good ground cover.

Looks

These shrubs can be upright, rounded or low and spreading, with dense foliage all year round. Some have vibrant leaves edged or splashed with white or yellow, others have glossy green leaves that may become tinted bronze or red in cold weather.

Likes

They are unfussy shrubs and grow well in any free-draining soil, in sun or shade, making them a good choice for trickier planting spots and exposed locations.

Dislikes

Euonymus won’t grow well in permanently wet or excessively dry soil. Heavily variegated cultivars may struggle in deep shade.

Did you know?

Most forms of Euonymus fortunei, especially the mound-forming and ground cover types, can also be trained against a wall to provide evergreen screening.
