A Home from Home

Young Designer Gardens
The garden is designed as an urban oasis, providing a place for relaxation, repose and reflection. The imagined owners have moved from the countryide to an urban area and want a space that includes elements of their old and new life.

The structure of the garden is a modern urban square with countryside-inspired elements that will help the owners to reminisce. While tactile recollections, such as the feel of wheat are directly recreated through plants, the design also alludes to other traditional details of the the rural landscape. Hedges of different heights portray hedgerows and a rill running through the garden represents a stream.

The garden path, which is surrounded by planting, steps down several times and ends at a sunken seating area. Trees planted around the seating create a sheltered space and there is an exciting tree canopy overhead. The rill, echoes the effective use of levels used in urban squares, taking people away from the road and providing a sense of escape.

The planting scheme is a lush palette of greens, whites and purples, and creates a peaceful urban oasis where the owner can escape their cares.
