From Hall to Home

Evolution Gardens
This garden charts the evolution of contemporary garden design through the development of stately homes and halls. It is inspired by the Capability Brown’s legacy and illustrates how his style and influence can still be seen through the evolution of contemporary garden design.

Old-style brick paving leads to a central Palladian-inspired arbour, which provides a semi-enclosed space to sit and admire the rest of the garden. Bowl-shaped water features are nestled among the planting, which includes topiary, pleached trees and meadow perennial planting. Statement plants include large linear swathes of Panicum virgatum that add an architectural contrast to some of the softer planting.
