Following a poll on social media, The Wooden Spoon Garden is a reimagining of a conventional garden as a low-maintenance space, designed for maximum use, to encourage those who may be afraid of gardening.
A sunken terrace replaces a lawn, offering privacy and a sense of seclusion. It is stocked with easy-to-grow, everyday plants, such as Astrantia, Heuchera and Penstemon, which are attractive to pollinators. A statement tree and the suggestion of a pergola add height and a bird-care zone with a terracotta wall provide part of the boundary.
