Get Set, Grow! Episode Twelve

Clear your crops and sow another, see ways to prevent powdery mildew, harvest sweetcorn, prep the plot for winter and plan for next spring

In the twelfth episode of Get, Set, Grow! Lettie demonstrates how to clear crops that are ready for harvesting allowing space to sow new winter crops, and shares how to sow radishes, which are quick and easy to grow. How about trying some winter varieties to spice up your salad in the colder months? It’s also time to gather your sweetcorn, and there are simple steps to follow that indicate when the crop is ripe for harvesting.

Also in this episode, there are tips to identify and try to treat powdery mildew, which can attack a wide range of plants. Lettie offers advice on getting your plot ready for winter with regular weeding or successional sowing, shows how adding a layer of mulch for the autumn can suppress weeds and lock moisture in the soil and encourages you to start planning the plot for next spring.
