A very large rose about 3m tall, with long, spiny stems forming large mounds of grey-green foliage, although it can also be trained as a rambler. Trusses of small, white, single flowers, with a large boss of yellow stamens, open from pale yellow buds in midsummer followed by 1-2cm, oval, orange-red fruits (hips)

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grows best in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in a sunny, open position. Mulch in late winter and, to improve flowering, apply a balanced fertiliser in late winter or early spring

Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer or hardwood cuttings in autumn
