Whether you are a member or not, here are just some of the events happening in 2025 across the RHS. It’s scientifically proven that gardening is good for you, so make it one of your 2025 goals to get outside, embrace nature and get fit.

RHS Shows

Book a ticket for an RHS Show and discover avant-garde garden designs
RHS Members can take advantage of discounted tickets, early bird offers and special RHS Members’ Days at our RHS Shows. This year there is the much-anticipated partnership of BBC Radio 2 and Gardeners’ World presenter Monty Don. He’ll be creating his first garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, celebrating the connection between two of the UK’s greatest loves – dogs and gardens. There are also dozens of cutting-edge designs for gardens of all shapes and sizes. Plus, advice and inspiration from the scores of exhibitors, experts and growers who make a beeline for RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Why wait for RHS Chelsea? RHS Malvern Spring Festival, (Thursday 8 – Sunday 11 May 2025) sees horticulture meet interior design with eight RHS judged indoor gardens to inspire houseplant enthusiasts, alongside a packed line-up of garden stars sharing their know-how on the Talks Stages. RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival (Tuesday 1 – Sunday 6 July 2025) is celebrating the joy of gardening past, present and future in an unapologetically floral feast of gardens and exhibits. Also in London this July is the RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show – a great reason for a decadently floral trip to the city this summer.

RHS Flower Show Wentworth Woodhouse is the brand-new RHS Show taking place between Wednesday 16 and Sunday 20 July 2025 at the stunning RHS Partner Garden Wentworth Woodhouse, South Yorkshire. From Terrace Gardens showing what can be achieved in a small space to themed planting combinations in Long Borders Avenue. With feature gardens celebrating the horticultural history of the region and lots of family activities, it’s the perfect way to start the holidays.

What’s happening in the RHS Gardens

Starting in February half term and lasting all year, enjoy exploring the Guess How Much I Love You garden adventure trail at the five RHS Gardens
The five RHS Gardens have a number of events across the year and members get free unlimited days out at the gardens. There’s a programme of activities for all the major school holidays. Starting in February half term and continuing all year, we’ve teamed up with the publishers of the Guess How Much I Love You books – Walker Books – to create a garden adventure trail and activities for little ones.

At Easter, hunt around the RHS Gardens for hidden eggs and crack a secret code, and at May half term, join us for a garden game-a-thon and compete against your family and friends playing fun garden games. For the summer holidays join our wild woodland adventure, head into the woods for den building, tree climbing and forest school activities.

From May to September, come and see photographer and curator Gareth Gardner’s celebrated Close to the Hedge at Wisley, an exhibition showcasing photographers’ fascination for the humble hedge.

In autumn, the Festival of Flavours will return with a twist as we celebrate autumn gardening alongside foodie and harvest activities and live music, followed by spooky Halloween activities for October half term.

RHS Glow is an unmissable event during the Christmas season
RHS Glow is always a hit and will return from November, so pop it in your diary for a lovely Christmas activity with friends, family or colleagues at the back end of the year.

We’ve mentioned the celebration of dog lovers at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and we plan to continue the successful walkies programme at RHS Gardens, so dog lovers don’t need to miss out on our beautiful gardens and can bring their beloved pooches on specialist doggie days.

Discover our Partner Gardens

Abbotsford, Roxburghshire, is one of the 15 new RHS Partner Gardens for 2025
Make sure you vote for the RHS Partner Garden of the Year or visit the 2024 winner - Green Island Gardens, Essex. There are now 231 RHS Partner Gardens members can visit, with 15 new ones added for 2025. Every season we spotlight a few and showcase some key events on our website.

In June, RHS Members often get access to the London Open Gardens weekend, which offers visitors the chance to see gardens not normally open to the public.

Courses and workshops – some top picks

Join our workshops to learn new skills and meet other gardening enthusiasts
Learn a new skill or just join a group on one of our 450 courses and workshops at RHS Gardens. They are released in three waves – mid-January, around May and September. They are varied, with courses on how to start growing vegetables, forest gardening and much more. There are also craft workshops, including stained glass and willow basket making, as well as botanical art and photography classes.

They’re incredibly popular, so bookmark the courses and workshops page and add yourself to the mailing lists to be alerted when they are released.

Education and learning

Study a range of qualifications designed by RHS experts
Many formal courses open applications in January so now is a good time to apply if you want to work towards a job or qualification. Our New Shoots programme gives budding horticulturists the chance to explore whether it’s the right path for them.

In 2025, we are launching the Greener Skills Garden at RHS Wisley – a garden within the garden, dedicated entirely to learning and education, and although it’s primarily for learners, it’s open for anyone to take a peek and maybe pick up some science and sustainability tips.

The RHS is home to the finest gardening heritage collection in the world. Whether you are an academic researcher or a curious gardener, browse the books or attend a talk at one of our libraries at RHS Wisley in Surrey, RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate or The RHS Lindley Library in London. Explore our digital collections and online resources including eBooks and audiobooks. With RHS Libraries membership you can even borrow books and have them delivered to your door.

Community gardening – how to get involved

Help us build and grow NHS wellbeing gardens around the country by donating today
We continue to work with the NHS and other partners, to create wellbeing gardens at healthcare settings so staff, patients, visitors and the local community can reap the benefits of gardening. We opened the Colchester Hospital Wellbeing Garden, Essex in July 2024, and later this year, based on the findings from our work with the NHS and research at RHS Wisley, we’ll be publishing a blueprint for wellbeing gardens; evidence-based guidelines to help healthcare settings and communities create more spaces to support mental health. The Blueprint will help anyone wanting to set up a wellbeing garden. We will also open the third of four flagship NHS wellbeing gardens designed by Adam Frost in St James’s University Hospital, Leeds this summer.

If you want to start a community gowing project RHS Grow With It is our year-round programme that supports anyone across the UK who wants to grow and garden with others. This year, we are inviting people to join in to sow a small space with big impact to benefit others in your neighbourhood – from people to pollinators. Sign up to receive a welcome pack, including free seeds (subject to availability) and the RHS will provide support and help along the way. You don’t need to be a member to register.

We’re also asking you to join us to record daffodils across the UK in Spring with our Daffodil Diaries project. We’re hoping to see the country turn yellow on our interactive map and you may even be able to help us find some rare or endangered daffodils.

Explore our resources and get children and young people gardening in schools
The RHS Campaign for School Gardening offers resources and help for teachers who want to bring gardening to school children. If you are a teacher, educator or work with children – sign up for support and resources. We’re also involved in a national project to improve biodiversity in education settings across the UK with the National Education Nature Park. Anyone can get involved so take a look and see how your local school can help.

Our role as a gardening charity

By becoming a member, you’re supporting our charitable work to train the next generation of gardeners, to find solutions to environmental issues and to inspire everyone to grow
In line with our strategy, in 2025, we’ll be lobbying for the provision of individual and shared gardens to be central to the government’s housebuilding plans.

Discover RHS Science

Hilltop Live is a series of free daily talks, demonstrations and interactive sessions
Take part in citizen science – we’re always looking for a wide range of participants to help our research, and your participation can make a real difference. For example, in 2024, citizen scientists from across the UK pulled together to contribute to the Bumbles on Blooms project, submitting photos of bees on flowers to help our scientists identify key plants that provide the nectar bumblebees need to get going in spring. This community project won an award from the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs for its work to champion pollinators, and has fed into our plant recommendations to help us advise you on the best plants to plant. Keep an eye on the help our research page for new projects and ongoing surveys that you can get involved with.

You can get close to our scientists and advisors at the Home of Gardening Science at RHS Hilltop at RHS Wisley. Discover something new by attending one of our free daily RHS Hilltop Live talks, or bring the kids along to explore some of the accessible science behind our natural world. To hear from world-leading experts on big current topics in gardening science, put the free annual autumn John MacLeod lecture in the diary – keep an eye out on this page for details and take a look at previous lectures online.

Remember that your support through membership is helping to fund our wide range of crucial research into biodiversity and wildlife, environmentally friendly gardening, improving sustainability in the horticultural industry, encouraging healthy plants and gardens, and much more. Find out more about our mission at RHS Science here. This all feeds into the bespoke science-based advice you can obtain throughout the year.
