The Wild Subtropical Woodland Garden, Guernsey, Channel Islands
This Wild Subtropical Woodland has been gently reimagined over three decades, weaving exotic dry shade plants among drifts of snowdrops, cyclamen, primroses and bluebells. Historic camellias now number in the hundreds, offering vital winter nectar. Ferns, hellebores, arums and subtropical species blend effortlessly with native flora, all tended without chemical pesticides. A large bug hotel and rising numbers of birds, bats, mice, frogs and hedgehogs reveal a woodland rich in life.
